Privacy policy

BeatFractal is made by Ali3N Studios LLC, Texas, United States. This policy explains what we keep about you and why. The short version: your songs, artwork and videos never leave your device, we show no ads, we use no tracking cookies and never follow you to other sites, we count visits only as totals (without cookies), and we never sell your information.
What stays on your device
Songs you open, the videos you render, your favourites, collections, queues, presets you import and your settings are kept in your browser's own storage on your device. We never receive them. Clearing your browser's data for beatfractal.com removes them.
What we keep, and why
| Your account | Your email address, an optional name, and the date you joined. Your password only as a one-way hash we cannot reverse. If you turn on two-step sign-in, its secret, encrypted, and your recovery codes as hashes. If you sign in with Google or Apple, the account id and email they give us. Kept until you delete your account. |

| Upgrades | Upgrades you save in the beta engine: the upgraded preset, the result of its flash check and its thumbnail, so they follow you between devices. Kept until you delete them or your account; included in "Download your data". |
| Saved hooks | The hooks you save for Social clips (short lines of text), so they follow you between devices. Kept until you remove them or delete your account; included in "Download your data". |
| How you found us | If you arrive through a link that says where it was posted (for example ?ref=youtube), your browser remembers that word for 60 days, and if you then create an account it is saved with your account, so we can see which places bring people to BeatFractal. Nothing else about your visit is kept with it. Kept until you delete your account. |
| Problem reports | When a render fails or the page hits an error, the studio sends a report: what was being rendered (size, frame rate, length), how far it got, the browser, and the graphics chip and memory. Linked to your account number, never your address. The newest 5,000 reports are kept; older ones are deleted. |
| Purchases | Your Stripe customer number, your plan and its renewal date, and which project a Single Video purchase unlocked (a fingerprint of the song file, not the song itself). Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. |
| Messages to us | What you send through "Report a bug or suggest a feature": the topic, subject and message, and, if you leave it ticked, page details that help us reproduce a problem (browser, screen size, song length, queue settings and plan; never your song or file names). Kept until you delete your account; included in "Download your data". |
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare delivers the site and runs our sign-in, account and purchase system and its database. Like any network, it sees the IP address of each request.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits to our pages: which page, the site that linked to it, the country, and the kind of browser and device. It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device, and we see only totals, never who you are.
- Namecheap hosts the site's files.
- Stripe, and Link where a purchase is sold through it, process payments and send receipts. They have their own privacy policies.
- Resend sends the emails your account needs (confirming your address, resetting your password, invitations) and delivers your messages to us. No newsletters or marketing.
- Google or Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them.
These services process data for us under their own terms; we share only what each one needs. Some are in the United States, so your data may be processed there.
Cookies and storage
One cookie keeps you signed in (bf_session, up to 30 days). Signing in with Google or Apple sets a second, short-lived cookie (10 minutes) to complete the sign-in safely. The studio uses your browser's storage for the things listed under "What stays on your device", and your browser remembers the word described under "How you found us". No advertising or tracking cookies.
Your choices and rights
- See it: your account page has "Download your data", a file with everything we hold about your account.
- Change it: edit your name and email on your account page.
- Delete it: delete your account from your account page. Your account, sign-in methods, sessions, library choices, upgrades, saved hooks, messages to us and purchase records are removed, and any subscription is cancelled first. Our account-event log keeps only the account's number, which no longer identifies you. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.
- Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, such as to object or to complain to a data-protection authority. Email us and we will help. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Children
BeatFractal is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep information about them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the service before it takes effect.
